WHAT EXACTLY IS MICRONEEDLING??

A Microneedling treatment is comprised of using a skin pen or a derma roller device, which contains very fine needles. It is a process in which the device is used to intentionally create small, microscopic punctures in the skin. This simple treatment breaks down old scar tissue and stimulates collagen production by your own skin. New collagen leads to the formation of new and revitalized skin tissue. Microneedling is minimally invasive and often used as an alternative to face lifts or plastic surgery for rejuvenation. It is truly the latest and greatest in the world of skincare. Common among celebrities and other high-profile skincare clients, the dramatic results of microneedling are unprecedented for a quick 1-hour in-office procedure. Learn more about this revolutionary procedure below.

HOW DOES MICRONEEDLING WORK?

A certified technician will sit with you and go over the treatment process. They will apply a numbing cream over the treatment site (often the entire face) for optimal comfort. They will then utilize a microneedling pen over the face to create micropores and use multiple applications of hyaluronic acid and growth factor serum which will be absorbed into the micropores. The microstimulation also enhances your skin's own collagen production, enhancing the treatment even further. This process is repeated until the entire face is treated. After the microneedling procedure is complete, a healing serum in the form of a mask is applied to the skin for optimum healing.

WHO IS THE IDEAL CANDIDATE?

We want to stress that microneedling procedures are for everyone! Microneedling works on all skin types, as well as for many skin conditions. It is for all those looking to improve their skin texture, regenerate tissue, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, lines, scars, and stretch marks.

WHAT ARE ALL THE BENEFITS?

Microneedling significantly improves the absorption and efficacy of all topical skin care products. It stimulates blood circulation and collagen production by over 1000%, which gives the skin a smooth and youthful look. It is very cost effective compared to many expensive and harsh procedures such as chemical peels, laser and dermabrasion.  Microneedling works on all skin types and can be used on different parts of the body. It can treat the face, abdomen, skin around the eyes, lips, hands, and neck. Microneedling is proven to improve the following skin conditions:

-Rough Skin Texture

-Wrinkles

-Fine Lines

-Crow’s Feet

-Laugh Lines

-Surgical Scars

-Acne Scars

-Chicken Pox Scars

-Large Pores

-Sun Damaged Skin

-Aging Skin

-Stretch Marks

IS IT SAFE FOR ME?

Microneedling is harmless on all skin types since the epidermis is not damaged throughout the treatment.

WHAT IS THE DOWN TIME?

Microneedling has a very short downtime. Skin redness and inflammation are common immediately after the treatment. It will disappear within 24 hours. Your skin may be slightly pink for 2 to 4 days depending on the depth of the treatment.

HOW WILL I LOOK AFTER THE TREATMENT?

After a microneedling procedure, your face may appear reddish with slight swelling. Slight bleeding may occur as well in small areas for the first 24-48 hours. Otherwise, your face will look younger and fuller almost immediately!

IS IT PAINFUL?

Numbing cream is used to minimize pain during the procedure.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS DO I NEED TO SEE OPTIMAL RESULTS?

This will vary for all patients, depending on their skin condition and the results they are seeking. Usually, a series of 4-5 treatment sessions is needed, spaced apart by about a month or so between treatments. For advanced signs of aging, stretch marks, and acne scars, often more treatments are needed for optimal results.

HOW OFTEN CAN I REPEAT THE TREATMENT?

You can perform a new treatment safely every 2-6 weeks.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

There has been over 150,000 microneedling procedures performed around the world, and there has been no reported side effects.

WHAT SHOULD I AVOID AFTER MY TREATMENT?

For approximately 2 weeks after your microneedling treatment, it is important to avoid chemical peels, as well as makeup and products that are not non-comedogenic. This will allow your skin to heal completely without compromising your treatment's success. Sun exposure immediately after treatment is not recommended. Sunscreen is encouraged.

WHAT IS THE RECOVERY TIME LIKE?

Recovery time is very, very minimal. Your skin may be swollen for a few days afterwards, and may remain slightly pink for up to 48 hours after the procedure. Using hyaluronic acid and specialized serums after your treatment, many of which are specifically formulated to compliment your microneedling procedure, you will help reduce this inflammation. You can resume your normal activities immediately afterwards with little to no impact to your daily life. However, it is recommended to forego makeup for a few days afterwards due to the pores being opened and are in the healing process.
